October 8 2005:
On a bright sunny day, volunteers from the Cruzada Church of Christs and friends from Manila Doctors Hospital converted the sanctuary of the Villa Nova Church of Christ in Novaliches, Quezon City into temporary Medical, Dental and Eye clinics.
It was a “hard-but-worth-it-all” kind of day where the Eye Clinic led by Dr. Edenel Orillaza served 27 patients. At the Dental clinic, Drs. Rhoda Formales, Elsa Mirindo, and Boni & Vicky Cortez took turns helping 30 patients. The Medical Clinic conducted by the four doctor co-workers of Dr. Edilberto Farcia from Manila Doctors Hospital took care of 72 patients.
Medicine collected here in the states, in addition to what the team purchased in Manila were dispensed to the patients free of charge by Cora Padilla, Lito Ambion and Lota Ambion to the needy neighbors of the Villa Nova Church.
Bro. Renante Mariano, “Bro. Enan” for short, the pastor of Villa Nova Church worked with the rest of the team coordinated by Sis. Jackie Umali. The whole project made successful by the able assistance of Tess Lais, Bert Benitez, Joey Orillaza, Arlene Catelo, Lina Benitez, Odie Solis, nurse Marlyn Santiago, photographer Joel Formales, and the presence of Sister Maring Romulo.
Free medical clinics like this help our local churches manifest to their communities the love of God and harvest souls for His kingdom.
