MINDANAO EARTHQUAKE DISASTER ASSISTANCE UPDATE REPORT

From the Harvest for Christ Disaster and Emergency Assistance Desk: UPDATES FOR THE HFCF/IDES MINDANAO EARTHQUAKE DISASTER AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROJECT

Bro. Herson Amolo, senior HFCF-IDES Disaster/Emergency coordinator for Mindanao, filed this report last June 23, 2026 (15 days post-earthquake):

“The Harvest for Christ Foundation (HFCF) and International Disaster Emergency Services (IDES) team distributed rice, canned goods and relief supplies to the earthquake affected brethren in:

  1. Laconil, Tboli, South Cotabato: 46 families- these families either walked for 2 hours or used motor vehicles to the designated safe area. Their area, being on high elevation, were destroyed due to a big landslide.
  2. Our next stop was in Polomok, South Cotabato: This was after travelling for 1.5 hours using the bypass road from Tboli. There are 14 recipient-members who are working in a factory which is located at the edge of a creek. I was told a pregnant woman had a miscarriage due to incessant earthquake.
  3. Last stop was in Apopong COC, General Santos City: 40 recipient-members and 4 neighbors received the food package. The four (4) neighbors also received the assistance as they have no food for the night. ”

We also assisted the COC-HELPS/ Cruzada Church disaster assistance team (led by Pastor Rasty Sanoy) in its relief distribution efforts in another part of Gen. Santos City.

The Tboli brethren/native residents are asking if it’s possible to extend another round of relief distribution even if it’s just for their site because of the massive destruction they suffered, losing their chapel and their dwellings/livelihood also.

Bro. Herson Amolo adds

Praise God for His mercies and provisions through the generous partnership of IDES and HFCF donors in this massive Mindanao earthquake disaster assistance effort.

More than 100 families (around 500 people) received relief assistance and food in this Phase One quick response operation.

We are considering a second trip for around 30 or more families, as the funds allow, to the Tboli area as requested by our brethren there.

Phase 2 will be to help rebuild destroyed/damaged chapels and dwellings. We are still gathering funds so we can help more families. Please do prayerfully consider contributing to the Mindanao Earthquake Disaster Assistance Funds. So much more need to be done!

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a

harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all

people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
