Dear David & Eleanor
Summer is here and with it comes BBQs, refreshing watermelon, and special activities. I hope you are doing well and plan to take some moments this summer with friends and family! We will once again fly to the USA and Canada to see family. It’s hard to be so globally scattered from family, so we love the break and chance to visit. I’m looking forward to making more memories with our wider family and friends!
And again, the first part of July will be spent at Chosen People Ministries’ Camp Kesher. It’s an incredible week of Bible teaching, silly songs, night-time dips in the pool, camp-wide games and new friendships made – 80 children and 25 staff. I do not exaggerate by saying everyday in our home Camp Kesher is talked about. It is the pinnacle of the year for our kids . . . and me too as I serve and mentor the little girls in my cabin.
As a pinnacle for me, recently there was a special event I look forward to annually! Each year, I swim in a charity race to fundraise for a center for disabled adults. We swim either 1.2miles or 2.5miles in the Sea of Galilee. It is a glorious feeling to swim the calm waters at sunrise and finish this strenuous race with 500 other women! Most of them are religious and several oof them know I am a believer in Jesus. I thank the Lord for the witness and works spoken there.
Recently, I joined a friend to give 20 teddy bears to children in a heart-defect ward at Tel HaShomer Hospital in Tel Aviv. The bears come from a ministry partner and fried of ours whose child was born with a serious heart defect, requiring four open-heart surgeries. As we shared with the families, children, and the staff why and who these bears come from and how much God loves them, they were overwhelmed. We took time to pray for them and gave them (and us) a moment of happiness, as we watched the child hug or stroke their new teddy bear. It’s an incredible ministry and we are glad to be part of it!
So many extra special things have happened recently. I am praying for open doors to continue to serve Him in the future. I am content in the present, and thankful to you for your support and prayers for us as we serve Him.
Yours in Messiah,
Rachel Davis |
